Jamie, that old campfire chestnut usually involves a woman wearing a ribbon choker around her neck…easier to keep clean, at least, if not much more plausible.

Jamie, I didn’t get this update and it looks like https://thelongshotpodcast.com/?feed=rss2 doesn’t work properly. [Error: invalid start-tag, XML parsing failed: syntax error (Line: 39, Character: 105)] https://thelongshotpodcast.com/?feed=podcast seems to be ok though.

I play video games and also walk outside, so I disagree with Eddie. However, I don’t have the time because I am working on projects. Around Christmas I take some time off and my boyfriend and I do nothing but play video games. We find ones that co-op so we can play together and simultaneously blow other people’s heads off. I find it very therapeutic after a stressful day.

Anyways, on to recommendations! I have a Play Station, Sean, and am too lazy to see if these games are available on X-Box. But on our PS there is a demo section for up coming games. I am pretty certain if you are paying for the XBox Live service, that this is available there.

I actually demoed the Mortal Kombat game you were talking about and it was fun but too much for me! Considering you seemed to revel in the gore I would recommend the newish . I demoed that one and holy shit. You shoot Nazis and if you fill them with enough lead you can actually SHOOT THEIR FACE OFF. Enough to where it melts off and you can see the bone and tendons underneath. I actually couldn’t look at the screen when that happened but it was fun but too intense for me.

Our favorite game to play together is. It is a really well done game that feels very cinematic. You get to be either of those douchey-bro guys! They are so ridiculous it is entertaining. The sniper headshots are super fun to pull off and the campaigns are varied enough to be interesting. We’ve had this game for a couple of years and we STILL love playing it.

Also, you can’t go wrong with any of the “Uncharted” games. I’ve watched my guy play it and it looks really fun. Even just watching him play is entertaining. Also the same cinematic feel but this one is a solo so you can’t play co-op, which sucks for us but again fun to watch.

Another one that I like to watch my guy play are any of the “Assassins Creed” games. It is also a solo game which is why I wind up watching (like I said, I have no time to play video games). One of the series was set in Italy. The developers mapped the cities of Florence and Venice and put a veneer of how it would look during the Renaissance. Since I have visited Florence and Venice I was actually able to direct my boyfriend around, it was THAT accurate.

Anyhoo, those are my game recommendations. Sorry this post was long. Have fun gaming!

I like Galaga. It’s cool. Sometimes you can get like a double-ship and fire lasers super hard.

  5. Johnathan Bakes says:

am I the only one who found it glaringly obvious that “Lauren Ashley Bishop” was just the mysteriously absent Amber doing a character? apparently you guys are having trouble booking guests for the show, but this laughably transparent ruse is not the answer.

  6. says:

It’s awesome that Sean’s first foray into console gaming is Mortal Kombat. Did you play any of the old ones in arcades, etc or is it brand new to you?

I would heartily recommend LA Noire (actually Eddie might even like this one as it deals quite heavily with the Black Dahlia murders, which he often tweets about). It’s a great fun Detective game where you study people’s body language in interrogations (characters were all scanned from real actors using leading-edge facial motion capture), as well as search for physical clues, and a fair amount of foot and car chases.

I’ll second the recommendation for the Assassin’s Creed series, though the controls might be a bit annoying to begin with.

What sort of things interest you in general? Recommendations are generally tough because there are a lot of good, very different experiences out there. You’re (wisely) not interested in playing online with teenage idiots (these are absolutely the same people who talk shit on Twitter and send you horrible emails), but there are plenty of games that have great co-op or multiplayer modes that you can enjoy if you have any friends that are also into it – my picks would be Borderlands (1&2), Resident Evil (5&6) and Rock Band.

  7. Al says:

Very weird that I was just thinking about this story last week.

  8. Sean says:

I love this co-op idea. Tell me more about that. I literally know nothing about it, didn’t even know that was a thing.

  9. Aviv says:

I’d like to point out the amazing zinger that Jamie flinged somewhere in the beginning in saying “George Bush”. It was hilarious and no one paid attention to it! Does anyone remember what the exact zinger was though? I’m too lazy to try and find it.

  10. Michelle says:

Sean, co-op is for two people to play at the same time with a screen split. I would love to watch a video of you and Eddie on the couch playing a video game together. Holy shit hilarity. Co-ops you can play by yourself and you get to deal with the computer operating the other guy. Sometimes the game lets you act solo without even a computer partner.

The game Moe suggested above, LA Noire, sounds really cool. I vote for you and Eddie to learn how to play this one.

  11. ronni says:

PORTAL 2 is the best co_op game you should play. It requires teamwork and knowledge of puzzle solving.the single player is just as fun and filled with laughs.

  12. Beelzebud says:

I’d love to see Sean and Eddie play Portal 2 on co-op.

  13. Amber Kenny says:

Johnathon Bakes- I legitimately wish I was that good at characters. And that funny. Lauren is a great comic and I was sad that I wasn’t there when she was our guest. Guess we’ll have to have her back!
